Grasshopper

This morning, behind the shed, the brambles filled with ripe blackberries. August is indeed the first month of autumn.

Bending to touch my toes in the morning sunshine … A small green hopper on the paving stone. My friend said he found one on his bike the day before. He cycled four miles into work and when he arrived it was still sitting there.

This afternoon, the body of a pigeon in the middle of Thornton Avenue. Grey feathered mass with a pink clawed foot. And this morning the air temperature: cool rigour of autumn glimpses final days of summer.

Welcome to beautiful skin serendipity

Jess borrowed my Blackberry to take pictures at SKIN, a beautiful if slightly disturbing exhibition put on by the Welcome Trust. It looks at our skin through the eyes and craft of past masters and contemporary artists in a range of media: ‘No Photography’ but she stole a few shots anyway but this wasn’t one of them. This was a beautiful mistake and maybe it isn’t even skin. If you can, visit the exhibition. It’s great to see science through the craft and sensibility of the artist. Nice balance of Yin n Yang.
